Well, I am learning a little more everyday. I am in the process of trying to install WordPress onto my website. The installation went well but when I went to view the webpage all I got was a directory. I found the page that should have loaded up and I clicked on it. It loaded as it should and I saw what I should have seen when I typed in the address.
So I spent last night trying to find out what the problem was. If I was experienced then this might go a little easier. I think I have discovered what the issue is but I haven’t had the time to look into it further. I believe a file name .htaccess needs to be modified to read index.php as on of the possible default pages for the directory. I will attempt to do this tonight.
Between messing with the WordPress installations (I also installed a separate theme) and watching a little of the election returns, I didn’t get any further on the article that I am trying to write. By the way, you can find the themes for WordPress here. I probably won’t have a chance to do so tonight either. I read that there are a few plugins for WordPress that I should also install. One is wp-opt in and one is for Kontera. I haven’t installed either yet. There was another program to blast spam comments but I think I am going to turn comments off if I can. I don’t have the time to waste on that. If someone needs to reach me then they can email me.
I like the look of WordPress. This means I also need to modify the Welcome page to the site. I am sure that most of my time tonight will be spent messing with this.
I still haven’t heard from Ebay. I am not sure what is going on there. I am beginning to get a complex.
I read about a couple of other sites and looked at them briefly during my lunch hour. The first is Associated Content. They seem to be pretty strict by not allowing you to post your article elsewhere. It doesn’t seem as if you maintain ownership of your article. I don’t think I am crazy about that idea but I will investigate a little further. A second site was PayPerPost. It seems they pay you to blog about websites or products. I will look into it but it doesn’t seem like my type of thing. Another similar site is LinkWorth.
Well that is it for today. Time to get to working on the site and solving my problems.

Congratulations with a good (in my opinion: the best) blog software choice.
Akismet is excellent in catching spam. 99.96% accurate on my site. And it has detected 13596 spam comments. Akismet should be a part of your WordPress package -but you need to get an API key from WordPress.com to activate it. You do not need to have a blog on WordPress.org to get an API key.
(thanks for the link)
Great Job! Keep up the good work.
WP- Spamfree is also a good plugin at fighting spam, and you don’t need an API for it either.
