I have joined another content network that can possibly help you make money online. The way that I look at it, it never hurts to be diversified. The name of the company is Bukisa. Bukisa pays you for how many views you get of your content. They have an index (currently $3.95 for every 1000 views) that will change from time to time depending on the success of the click on the ads that they provide. The interesting thing is that they allow you to do more than just write content. You can upload articles, video, audio, slide presentations or images in order to make money.

The interesting thing about Bukisa is that it is sort of set up like a network marketing company where you can actually make money on the people in you network. If you refer people to Bukisa and they post content then you will begin to make money on their content as well. Bukisa will pay you up to three levels down. You are able to make 25% of the money that you network is earning. I think you can see the extra profit potential that exists from this.

So far I have written three articles that I have posted on another site that I have. I will see over the next couple of weeks if they begin to generate article views.

As I mentioned before I have begun to write more articles for eHow. I am now up to 18 articles. I hope to have it up to about 100 articles in 1 – 2 months. Hopefully, I can find the time.

Well if you haven’t done so already give Bukisa a whirl. It can only help to add yet another stream of income.

I ran into another “how-to” website the other day that allows you to post articles and make money from the adsense that is place on the article page. The name of the website is HowHub. It is very similar to the eHow website.

The interesting things about HowHub is that if you refer 10 people to HowHub who publish an article then you get to keep 100% of the adsense revenue. This is quite a good deal and is too good to pass up on. So I will be publishing a few articles on HowHub over the next week or so to see how it goes.

I don’t know how well it will rank in Google’s search engine so it is my guess that it will take a little while before you begin to notice any earnings. There are not many articles posted there at the moment so it appears that it is just getting off of the ground. Follow the link over to the website and check it out. Post an article for yourself and see what type of success you have. It probably won’t cost you but 30 minutes of your time to whip out a quick article.

I have stepped up my eHow article writing. I have written about 7 or 8 new articles in the last week. I previously only had four articles and I noticed the other day that they had made over $4. That is not bad for the effort that I put in. So I am going to write a few more and check the progress in another month or so. However, the recent articles that I have written do not have any views yet and do not even show up when your search on eHow’s website. So I don’t know if there is some sort of time delay that is involved with the submitting of new articles. I will keep you informed of my progress.

After further investigation it appears that I did not drop of the face of the earth in the search rankings when I added Bidvertiser on my blogs. What has happened to the best that I can tell is that the adding of the Bidvertiser script is interfering with the Google Analytics script. However, I am able to track the Google Analytics through a plugin without a problem. So it appears that I have panicked for no good reason. Although it does appear as if I fell in the Yahoo search rankings. But I seem to be holding on to the few Google search positions that I held.

And actually I made a few cents in the first few days that Bidvertiser was on one of my blogs. Maybe it will continue to make a little money. Only time will tell.

I just happend to check into my eHow account earlier today (I haven’t paid attention to it for quite awhile) and saw that the four articles that I have on eHow have averged about .50 cents per month. Now that may not seem like a lot but eHow articles don’t take a lot to put together. So tonight I added three more articles. Over the next month or so I will try to add 30 – 50 articles. Then in another month I will see if that figure of 50 cents per article holds true. If it does then 200 articles would net about $100 per month.

I will let you know of my progress.

Writing good content articles is a fantastic way to generate links and to give a shot in the arm to your search engine rankings. Article marketing can be a great way to get targeted traffic to your web site. In fact, some high profile internet marketers use article marketing as a main component of their traffic generating strategy.

Choose your topics well. Give thought to your topic and how it relates to your blog or webpage that you will be linking to. Write about interesting topics. Create a problem in the mind of your readers that they need to solve then introduce your products or services as a solution. Make sure that the keyword for your article is closely related to the keyword for the blog post or webpage.

If you want to be ultimately effective you will need to write your own quality articles. Google’s search algorithm looks to see if it can find the same content elsewhere. If it does then it will give the originator of the content a boost in its rankings but it will not do much for you. At the very least take the concepts that someone else has talked about and put them in your own words. Google loves original content and if you can give it to them you will be rewarded.

One of the main reasons that article marketing is great is because it provides one way inbound links to your website. What is even more important is that it is providing an inbound link from an article that is similar in content to your website. Going out and getting multiple links from unrelated sites will probably not enable your website to rank very high.

The articles that you write hang around forever on the article directories. Some of the top websites that you can submit to is Ezine Articles, GoArticles, IdeaMarketers, ArticleCity, and A1 Articles. Article marketing is so effective because your website not only gets a link from each of the directories buy also from any website that takes the article and publishes it.

If you haven’t incorporated Article Writing as part of your marketing strategy you may want to reconsider.

I posted an article on Squidoo on Thurday night entitled “How To Lose Weight Quickly and Naturally.” It was an article that I used a technique that I found on the Wealthy Affiliate forum. The article will ultimately have a link to a landing page that reviews five of the top diet/exercise programs on ClickBank. The landing page was created by Wealthy Affiliate and saved me a lot of time from having to create something like it. You can view it here. I was amazed by the result of my Google search the next morning. Here are two searches as of the writing of this article 2 1/2 days after posting the article. In this first search I searched for the phrase “How to Lose Weight Quickly and Naturally” without the quotes.

Search on Google without quotes

As you can see, the Digg submission of my article show up on the second page of the Google search. Strangely enough, my Squidoo article hasn’t even been indexed by Google yet but you can get access to it through the Digg link.

I then did a search for the phrase in quotation marks. You can see that the Digg link to my article is #1 in Google. Not too bad for 2 1/2 days.

Google search with quotes

I also decided to check on the article that I posted on eHow three weeks ago written about Baseball Scholarships. The first image will show the search without quotes and the second will show the search with quotes. I have landed on the first page for both. You will notice a Digg result on the without quotes search as well. Though you cannot see it in the picture, Google said the search yielded 402,000 results and I landed on the first page.

Baseball Scholarship Search without quotes

I was blown away by the #3 overall ranking. Not bad for a guy who is clueless. Now I do not have any monetization strategy on this article yet but you can imagine that I might be able to get a little bit of traffic to my webpage if I did.

Baseball Scholarship search with quotes

If you are interested in finding out exactly how this was done you might want to try out Wealthy Affiliate as well. What I have learned in just a few days has been well worth it.

Over the weekend I spent a lot of time becoming familiar with social bookmarking. I found out about this from the Thirty Day Challenge. Social bookmarking involves sites that you have already heard of, such as, Twitter, Digg, Propeller, Technorati, etc. There is a great site that allows you to go through the process of submitting to many of these sites in one sitting. The site is called Social Marker. I recommend it (it is a free service). I submitted the two articles that I had written on eHow with Social Marker and the results were quite interesting. Both articles have been available since early November. Between this two articles I had 89 page visits up until this past Saturday night. I submitted the two articles through Social Marker just before midnight. At 7 am on Sunday morning I checked and the visits to the two articles now stood at 167. It took nearly two weeks to get 89 visits and only 7 – 8 hours to get the next 78 visits. That is the power of social bookmarking.

I also checked to see if my sites had been indexed by Google. You can do this by typing in “site:” followed by the name of your site (ex. site: dollaradayonline.com). All of the sites are indexed but one. You can view a sample search from below.

Screenshot of search for Dollar A Day Online Site

Now I am not exactly sure why the one site did not show up but I am guessing it has something to do with the life of the site and number of posts. This site has been “alive” since Nov. 2nd. The other sites have only been in existence for one week. I hope I can get the remaining site indexed in the next week or so.

I also ordered three more domains. I buy them at GoDaddy and then have to point them to my HostGator account. As of this writing, I have installed WordPress on the sites but have not done anything else. The new sites are Muscle To Die For, Build Large Muscles, and Get Big and Ripped. I wanted these to promote a few affiliate products in the bodybuilding arena. I guess tomorrow I should show you a list of all the affiliate products that I have signed up with. Until then take care.

I took the weekend off from posting. I had too many leaves to clean up in the yard and I spent time working on making some dining room chairs. I did get the article up on the blog and I also put it on Squidoo and Hub Pages. It was not the type of article that fit into eHow’s template.

Squidoo and Hub Pages don’t seem to generate much in the way of traffic to the previous article that I wrote on baseball scholarships. On eHow as of this morning I had 49 visits to the web page. Squidoo and Hub Pages basically had 0.

I will continue to write articles. However, I think my major thrust will be on eHow. I will probably produce a number of articles in the fitness arena that are short and sweet.

I have decided to start another blog to specifically make money. This blog basically tracks what I am doing. The other blog will be targeted to produce income. I will spend some time tonight trying to figure out what subject the blog will cover. I have some ideas but I need to do some research before beginning. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have a subject and maybe even a new domain. I have done some looking at Thirty Day Challenge. It has some good information. They are obviously trying to sell their product but the information that they give out is good. Check it out here.

Well, I was able to figure out how to adjust the .htaccess file last night. It now loads up the WordPress page without anyproblem. I spent some time screwing around with my home page (since I have the blog loaded into a directory called blog) without much success. I am not liking how it is looking. I am beginning to have remorse about not loading WordPress in the root directory. I will have to investigate further to see if I should move the blog. I have read some posts about difficulties that people have had in moving WordPress from one directory to another. I will keep you posted.

I spent time today on the train working on the article that I was writing. It is getting quite long but I am not done with it yet. I am contemplating breaking it up into two different articles. I am starting to wonder if I am making these articles too long. I guess I have too much to say. I am thinking about providing the full blown article on this website (and possibly Hub Pages or Squidoo) but only using a shortened version on eHow. My one article on eHow has been viewed 39 times now. That is not a lot of views but the subject of baseball scholarships doesn’t get that many searches.

I spent time today at lunch searching for what they call long-tailed keywords. I think that is just a fancy term for three words or so strung together to form one keyword (i.e. exercise fitness routine). I put in a number of topics and wrote down about 50 keywords that had a daily search count on Google of between 100 – 200. I used the free keyword tool at SEOBook.com. It is very helpful.

Well that is it for tonight. The Maryland football (I am a fan) game is on and they are losing 7 – 3 so I need to cheer a little harder. I also want to try to finish my long-winded article so I can publish it tomorrow. If I have time, I will come up with a few title suggestions for future articles.

Just want to give a quick update. I posted the same article that I wrote for eHow on both Hub Pages and Squidoo. I also enabled eHow to make payments to my PayPal account. I had forgottne to do that (not the brightest thing to do).

In conjunction with Hub Pages I created a Google Adsense account, a Kontera account and found out what my Amazon affiliate number was. Apparently, I signed up for one in the past. I also, applied to be an Ebay affiliate but they have not replied back to me. Maybe the don’t like me. I will have to see if an email show up in the next day or so.

I still have not taken steps to monetize Squidoo. I will have to do that shortly. There seems to be so much to stay on top of right now in order to get things going. I have an article to read that I printed out the other day.

I also started a second article. This one is on what I perceive to be the secret to losing weight. Hopefully, I can finish it in the next day or so. Fitness is another thing that I am passionate about. I told my son the other day that if there had been an exercise science major back in the day, then the direction of my life would have been a little different. I have been fascinated about fitness since my early teens. Well I think that brings everything up to date.

I signed up for a Squidoo and Hub Pages account. From looking around, these two sites seemed like a couple of the better choices out there. There are a few others to look into yet. I also signed up for a Xomba site. I figure that some the articles that I write could be placed on each site. Many of the things that I may wish to write don’t really fit into the eHow framework. I may not want to show someone how to do something but rather spout off about one of my many opinions. These other sites are better suited for that. I still have to sign up for a Google Adsense account. I looked at it briefly yesterday but they wanted your website address to sign upl. Since my domain is ony a few days old and there is currently only one page, I thought that maybe this wasn’t a good time to do this. I will have to find clarification on this.

I also thought about adding all of the articles that I write into my website. Ths will help the site grow which I am guessing may be a plus with search engines. Again, I have no idea what I am doing. I need to come up with a list of ideas to write about. I do much of my writing on my 50 minute train ride back and forth into Chicago each day. That gives me about two hours each day to write (or at least to think about writing).

I have also thought about doing a website for the town that I live in. I live in Lowell, Indiana. The website that currently exists and is run by the town in fairly static. It gives phone numbers to things like the water department, police, etc. I envision a website that is more user friendly, gives profiles of businesses, talks about local happenings, follows the high school sports teams, etc. I believe I can host the site for no extra cost at HostGator. My only cost would be the domain registration. It is only a thought. I may have to pursue this avenue since the whole point of this website is to figure out how to generate income online. This town website idea may be able to generate a few dollars per day. My wife could probably write some of the articles.

I thought it was interesting to note that when you look at the articles you have written on eHow that they give you a counter that tells you how many times your article has been viewed. I noticed last night that it had been viewed 4 times in the first half day of its existence. I don’t know if that is just the people at eHow viewing it to make sure that I haven’t posted on inappropriate article or whether it was real traffic. If the count doesn’t change much in the coming days then I guess it was the former. Well it is time to think of some ideas and to stop babbling.
