My First Post

I have finally ventured into the online world and have planted my feet (I am not sure how firm my footing is) onto my piece of virtual ground.  My intentions for doing so are far from noble. I am not trying to make you aware of universal truths that only I have the inside track on. I am not here to astound you with my mighty wisdom or to entertain you with my quick wit. I am here to start the long and arduous journey toward making more money. There I said it. The secret is out in the open. I want more money. Actually I need more money.

I have debts due to some poor decisions in life and I have a wife and four children due to some great decisions in life. The costs of raising four children is mind boggling. My oldest is about to head of to college in less than a year. Despite the fact that he will probably get some form of baseball scholarship, it has left me wondering how I am going to pay my portion of his college bill, not to mention the other three kids bringing up the rear.

I work for a corporation. It is not excessively large (about 800 – 900 people) but it is a company that can easily be affected by the recession we face as a country and by the downturn in the stock market. My job like many others in this country could be quickly eliminated. Although I enjoy my job I thought I should begin to find an alternate and supplemental source of income. The problem is that I should have started this process a few years ago.

I have tried other things in the past like MLM but I couldn’t quite bring myself to shove overpriced vitamin supplements down the throats of people who didn’t want them. I guess I don’t handle rejection too well and I am not a fan of begging so needless to say I didn’t do too well. But looking on the bright side of things, I did manage to spend hundreds of my own money for products that did nothing for me.

So here I stand on the precipice. I am not sure if I am standing on the precipice of wealth or on the precipice of the same great pit that has pulled other wannabe internet marketers down into its dark depths never to be heard from again.

Buy hey I have a plan. Do you want to hear it? My first goal is to make $1 on the internet. The self improvement gurus say you should set reasonable goals and I thought that $1 was pretty reasonable. My next goal is to make $1 per day. I figure that if I can do it once then I can probably find a way to duplicate my efforts and find repeat success.

You are probably thinking to yourself, “Don’t waste your time pal. If you are only hoping for $1 per day why don’t you stand on the street corner and sell roses.” Well this is true. However, I hope to multiply like a rabbit. I have always enjoyed the process of reproduction in the human world and hopefully I will get equal enjoyment out of it in the virtual world.

My intermediate goal is $100 a day. I don’t care how I get there. If it takes 100 sources making $1 per day or 20 sources making $5 per day or 1 source making $100 a day then so be it.

But here is the kicker: I don’t really have an idea of how to get there. I have some general concepts floating around in my head and I am doing a lot of study and research but the question yet to be answered is can I turn these concepts into cash.

I am very much aware that this will not be easy and that it will require a great deal of time and effort. Hopefully, I will stick with it.

You will get a ringside seat to my efforts. You will see my failures and hopefully my successes. If I am successful then the trail of my posts should provide a detailed description of how someone else can take the same journey.

So far I have spend $25 to register my domain and to pay for the first month of hosting from the wonderful people at HostGator. I am in the hole now; I better get busy.
