Make Money with Squidoo and Hub Pages

I signed up for a Squidoo and Hub Pages account.  From looking around, these two sites seemed like a couple of the better choices out there.  There are a few others to look into yet.  I also signed up for a Xomba site.  I figure that some the articles that I write could be placed on each site.  Many of the things that I may wish to write don’t really fit into the eHow framework.  I may not want to show someone how to do something but rather spout off about one of my many opinions.  These other sites are better suited for that.  I still have to sign up for a Google Adsense account.  I looked at it briefly yesterday but they wanted your website address to sign upl.  Since my domain is ony a few days old and there is currently only one page, I thought that maybe this wasn’t a good time to do this.  I will have to find clarification on this.

I also thought about adding all of the articles that I write into my website.  Ths will help the site grow which I am guessing may be a plus with search engines.  Again, I have no idea what I am doing.  I need to come up with a list of ideas to write about.  I do much of my writing on my 50 minute train ride back and forth into Chicago each day.  That gives me about two hours each day to write (or at least to think about writing).

I have also thought about doing a website for the town that I live in.  I live in Lowell, Indiana.  The website that currently exists and is run by the town in fairly static.  It gives phone numbers to things like the water department, police, etc.  I envision a website that is more user friendly, gives profiles of businesses, talks about local happenings, follows the high school sports teams, etc.  I believe I can host the site for no extra cost at HostGator.  My only cost would be the domain registration.  It is only a thought.  I may have to pursue this avenue since the whole point of this website is to figure out how to generate income online.  This town website idea may be able to generate a few dollars per day.  My wife could probably write some of the articles.

I thought it was interesting to note that when you look at the articles you have written on eHow that they give you a counter that tells you how many times your article has been viewed.  I noticed last night that it had been viewed 4 times in the first half day of its existence.  I don’t know if that is just the people at eHow viewing it to make sure that I haven’t posted on inappropriate article or whether it was real traffic.  If the count doesn’t change much in the coming days then I guess it was the former.   Well it is time to think of some ideas and to stop babbling.
