I found a pretty cool site today and ironically it is named today.com. They will pay you to post on a blog of your choosing. You can create a free blog on their website and begin making posts. The posts apparently need to be worthy and contain good content. There is the possibility that payment will be withheld if it does not meet their standards.

You also get paid about $2 for every 1000 visits to your blog. This can be yet another diversified way to make money online.

Currently, they only allow you to have one blog that they pay you for. They state that they may consider allowing more in the future. Since you are after visits to your blog this is probably a place where you might want to tap into social traffic like Digg and Stumble and Twitter.

You are not allowed to provide any links to affiliate offers or other money making offers. This is understandable since they are paying you for visits and posts. I do believe, however, that you can make contextual links to your other blogs. This gives you yet another place to provide quality backlinks to you main sites.

They also will pay you to refer others to their website. If someone follows your link and starts a blog and makes 10 posts within 30 days then you will be paid $5. This is a pretty good deal and doesn’t require anything other than you making today.com known.

If you haven’t heard of today.com, I recommend you clicking the link and checking them out.

I have joined another content network that can possibly help you make money online. The way that I look at it, it never hurts to be diversified. The name of the company is Bukisa. Bukisa pays you for how many views you get of your content. They have an index (currently $3.95 for every 1000 views) that will change from time to time depending on the success of the click on the ads that they provide. The interesting thing is that they allow you to do more than just write content. You can upload articles, video, audio, slide presentations or images in order to make money.

The interesting thing about Bukisa is that it is sort of set up like a network marketing company where you can actually make money on the people in you network. If you refer people to Bukisa and they post content then you will begin to make money on their content as well. Bukisa will pay you up to three levels down. You are able to make 25% of the money that you network is earning. I think you can see the extra profit potential that exists from this.

So far I have written three articles that I have posted on another site that I have. I will see over the next couple of weeks if they begin to generate article views.

As I mentioned before I have begun to write more articles for eHow. I am now up to 18 articles. I hope to have it up to about 100 articles in 1 – 2 months. Hopefully, I can find the time.

Well if you haven’t done so already give Bukisa a whirl. It can only help to add yet another stream of income.

I ran into another “how-to” website the other day that allows you to post articles and make money from the adsense that is place on the article page. The name of the website is HowHub. It is very similar to the eHow website.

The interesting things about HowHub is that if you refer 10 people to HowHub who publish an article then you get to keep 100% of the adsense revenue. This is quite a good deal and is too good to pass up on. So I will be publishing a few articles on HowHub over the next week or so to see how it goes.

I don’t know how well it will rank in Google’s search engine so it is my guess that it will take a little while before you begin to notice any earnings. There are not many articles posted there at the moment so it appears that it is just getting off of the ground. Follow the link over to the website and check it out. Post an article for yourself and see what type of success you have. It probably won’t cost you but 30 minutes of your time to whip out a quick article.

I have stepped up my eHow article writing. I have written about 7 or 8 new articles in the last week. I previously only had four articles and I noticed the other day that they had made over $4. That is not bad for the effort that I put in. So I am going to write a few more and check the progress in another month or so. However, the recent articles that I have written do not have any views yet and do not even show up when your search on eHow’s website. So I don’t know if there is some sort of time delay that is involved with the submitting of new articles. I will keep you informed of my progress.

After further investigation it appears that I did not drop of the face of the earth in the search rankings when I added Bidvertiser on my blogs. What has happened to the best that I can tell is that the adding of the Bidvertiser script is interfering with the Google Analytics script. However, I am able to track the Google Analytics through a plugin without a problem. So it appears that I have panicked for no good reason. Although it does appear as if I fell in the Yahoo search rankings. But I seem to be holding on to the few Google search positions that I held.

And actually I made a few cents in the first few days that Bidvertiser was on one of my blogs. Maybe it will continue to make a little money. Only time will tell.

I just happend to check into my eHow account earlier today (I haven’t paid attention to it for quite awhile) and saw that the four articles that I have on eHow have averged about .50 cents per month. Now that may not seem like a lot but eHow articles don’t take a lot to put together. So tonight I added three more articles. Over the next month or so I will try to add 30 – 50 articles. Then in another month I will see if that figure of 50 cents per article holds true. If it does then 200 articles would net about $100 per month.

I will let you know of my progress.

Just a couple of days ago I told you that I was adding Bidvertiser to a few of my blogs. I was curious how my search rankings would be affected if I added them. I mentioned this in the post Make Money Online with Bidvertiser. Well it appears as if Bidvertiser was the kiss of death.

Now I am not trying to pretend that I have a great readership to any of my blogs. I do not but on a couple of them I had start to pick up some organic search traffic from both Google and Yahoo. Yahoo owns Bidvertiser by the way.

I knew that Google often penalizes blogs or websites whenever Adsense is added as a way of making money online. I find this somewhat ridiculous but that is a rant for yet another day. But I wasn’t sure what they would do if I added Bidvertiser. Well apparently someone didn’t like it.

I added Bidvertiser on December 28th on four blogs including this one. (That means there is probably no one reading this now.) Below you will see two different graphs from my Google Analytics account that measures daily traffic flow. The flat lines after the trending lines are December 29th and December 30th. In other words Bidvertiser dealt a death blow to both of my blogs. So much for making money online.

Now as you can tell there was not a large readership. However, in just about a month I had built up to 31 unique visits per day on the Body Weight Exercise blog and between 10 and 15 on the Burn Calories Lose Weight blog. Now that count sets at zero. Thank you Bidvertiser and Yahoo for nothing.

At this point I am not sure what I am going to do. I can remove Bidvertiser to see if that makes a difference or I can leave it alone and see if the visitors return.

The odd thing is that I still rank on the second page of Google (for now) for the phrase “bodyweight exercise.” It hasn’t changed. I think I rank on page 4 for the same phrase in Yahoo. That fell from page two.

In the past I ranked on the first page in Yahoo for the term “burn calories lose weight” (as of just a couple days ago). Now I am nowhere to be found in their search rankings. It seems Yahoo slapped me pretty hard. I find this ironic since they send me emails all the time (through Bidvertiser) on how to place the ads on my blog to get better visibility. Talk about a double standard.

Just thought I would give you a heads up. Don’t make the same mistake. I am not sure when it is safe to monetize your blog with either Adsense of Bidvertiser. Just don’t do what I did (at least not if you ever care about making money online).

Considering our economy these days, many people are looking for ways to make money on the internet. The good thing is that there are many ways to make money on the internet. However, I fear that there are many people who think that making money online is a quick and easy process. They don’t realize how much work goes into establishing a presence on the internet.

Too many people peddle the idea that it is easy to make money on the internet. In theory, this may be true but in reality it is a difficult thing to do. If it is so simple then why do 95% of the people who try to find ways to make money on the internet fail. It is because it requires quite a bit of time and most people won’t put in the time. They are well intentioned but when they put in hour after hour without anything to show for it they become discouraged and give up their pursuit of making money on the internet.

If you are going to begin an online presence then you need to commit to the process. It is a long term process and not a get rich quick scheme. You can build a nice stream of passive income but it won’t happen in one month’s time. It will take a while. But if you commit yourself to making money online then and don’t quit then you will reap the rewards in time.

There are many ways to make money on the internet. You can sell products through Clickbank or PayDotCom.com. You can become an affiliate partner with some of the greatest companies on the earth through Commision Junction and similar affiliate programs. You can sell things through eBay or Amazon.com. You can provide advertising on your site through Google Adsense or Bidvertiser. You can get paid to write articles. You can create and sell your own product. I could go on and on. The opportunities to make money online exist.

But the X factor is you. Will you give yourself enough time to learn the ropes of making money online? Will you stay the course and not give up? Everything we do in life takes time. If I go on a diet tomorrow, I will not reach my goal by the following day. It will take time. I will need to be disciplined and have a plan in mind to succeed. The same is true for making money online. Although there are many ways to make money on the internet you won’t achieve it if you don’t have a plan.

So my advice to you is, before beginning to attempt to make money online, realize the commitment that it will require and dedicate yourself to the task. Do not fool yourself into believing that you can work two hours a week and be making six figures by the end of the year.

I recently added Bidvertiser to many of my Wordpress blogs hosted on HostGator. Everyone is looking for information on how to make money online and one of the ways that you can do this is through selling advertising. Bidvertiser is just one of the ways that you can monetize your blog or website. You will find the fancy button below.

online advertising

Bidvertiser is much like Google Adsense. You get paid when readers of your blog click on an ad that is displayed on your blog or website. It is a nice passive way to make money online.

I have added it to four of my blogs including this one. It appears in the sidebar of the blog in a tower format. So far I am not quite sure what to think about it. The ads appearing don’t seem optimized for the content of the particular blogs. Each blog is basically showing the same ads although their content is much different. I will give it a whirl however and see if it can help me make money online. I will keep you informed of my progress.

The nice part about Bidvertiser is that not only can you make money when someone clicks an ad but you can also make money when you refer others to the program. When a referred individual makes their first $10 you will also get $10 deposited to your account. Now I don’t expect you to get wealthy as a result of this but as my Granddad used to say it sure “beats a sharp stick in the eye.” If they are going to provide me with a little money for a referral then I will take it.

I am also a little curious to see if Google treats a newer blog with Bidvertiser the same way they treat a blog with Adsense. Often new blogs that employ Adsense will get punished and banned to the Google sandbox. If someone can speak to whether this happens with Bidvertiser I would appreciate you letting me know.

Well check it out for yourself and see if it might be just one more way to make money online.

I am sorry it has taken a few days to get back to posting on this blog. I have been a little under the weather and I was out of town for four days. I cannot begin to tell you how much I detest winter. I can't wait until the warmth of summer begins, but in my neck of the country that is a long time away.

It seems like everywhere you go these days you are bombarded by Social Networking. Sites like Twitter, Friendfeed, Digg, Propeller, etc. The big question is, however, do these social networks help you make money online? I must admit that sometimes I struggle to see how they can. I am a slow convert to this whole area. I do not like Twittering at all. To me it is a hassle, but I understand its value to an established business.

Here is my cynical take on Twitter and its ability to help you make money online. For those who are successful online already Twitter is an incredible tool because they can send quick broadcast messages to thousands of people who are following them. They have the ability to make large amounts of money online because they have an established reputation with these individuals.

I have no established reputation in the realm of internet marketing. Heck, I don’t have a great established reputation in my own household. Twitter is filled with people like me who randomly so searching for someone to follow in hopes that they may follow you in return. Then you get to send messages to people who may have no interest in your blog or article or affiliate product. It will generate traffic but the question is whether it is worth it or not?

If you have adsense on your site you will most likely get penalized because your click through rate will probably drop to new lows. If this is the case, then social network traffic is probably not something you want to drive to an adsense site.

I don’t understand all that goes into determining page rank in Google, Yahoo, etc but since they keep track of time spent on the page, I would imagine that it comes in to play somewhere in the search algorithms. If this is true then I would imagine that social networking traffic is not what you would want. They would most likely click there and then quickly click away. You got a visitor but beyond that it didn’t do you any good and it very well may penalize you if enough of the people do the same thing.

I would think that what the average internet marketer is after individuals who may have an interest in the content of their website. These individuals are still best found by ranking well in the search engines. The better you rank for your terms the more targeted traffic you get to your website. And it goes without saying that the more targeted traffic you get to your website the more money you will make online.

Over the next number of days I will discuss the factors that the experts say will help your website rank near the top of the search engines for your chosen keywords. I believe if you are to make money online, it is most important to understand how to rank highly in the search engines as opposed to sending off yet another Twitter message to a bunch of uninterested individuals.

I must admit that I am often confused by the Google and Yahoo rankings. I cannot quite figure out what causes a site to rank higher in their search engines than another. I know all of the correct answers but there are a lot of oddities. I want to take a look at four of my blogs as an example.

This site ranks for the phrase “make dollar a day” in Google but it shows up nowhere in Yahoo that I can find. It makes sense that it ranks in Google because “dollar a day” is part of the name of the blog. But why doesn’t it rank in Yahoo anywhere?

A second blog that I have, Burn Calories Lose Weight, ranks on the first or second page in Yahoo but it doesn’t show up anywhere in Google. The phrase is again in its name so I am not sure why this time Google doesn’t rank it higher and why does Yahoo give it such a high ranking?

My other blog, Bodyweight Exercise Online ranks well in Google but again it does not show up in Yahoo at all. I think it ranks toward the bottom of the third page in Google.

I have yet a fourth blog, Penny Stocks Trading, that follows the pattern. And you guessed, this one shows in Yahoo search rankings but cannot be found anywhere in Google for the phrase “penny stocks trading.”

As I said I cannot explain the discrepancies. I will try to investigate in the coming days and see if I can find any reason for this. Just thought it was sort of interesting.

We are going to perform a little experiment. Among some of the reading that I have been doing is on the excellent website of BloggerUnleashed. Vic Franqui is an experienced internet marketer. He suggested and showed that you could make money online if you are able to get your web pages indexed. It is important to get your web pages indexed by Google. There are times depending on what Google thinks of your blog or website that it may take a while for your site to get indexed. If your site does not get indexed then it is not going to rank for the keywords that you have chosen.

One of the ways to do this it to put in a search for a term that Google does not have in its index. You should put this search in quotes. Apparently, Google recognizes that it does not have this search term in its database. You then will place this exact term in your article that you want to have indexed. Your article does not specifically have to be centered around this term but it does have to have it mentioned at least once or twice. You can make your blog on any subject that you want such as making money online, or how to make a dollar a day or do bodybuilders pick their noses. Supposedly this works for WordPress blogs. This blog is a WordPress blog. I am not sure if it will work with Blogger blogs since it seems that Google may be penalizing them for some reason. If this experiment works then I may try it with a Blogger blog to see it works just the same.

So I put in a search for the term that I just mentioned above: Do Bodybuilders pick their noses. Obviously, the exact term did not exist in Google. Here is a picture showing the results of the search. In red you will see that the search term yielded no results and Google return results for the phrase without quotes.

So now I am going to continue on with this post and see if this experiment will work and try to find out if there is anything that we can learn from this that will help us to make money online. Again this is not intended to make money on the phrase “do bodybuilders pick their noses”; rather it is a test to determine if I can immediately get a page indexed and in doing so get my other terms that I want to rank for out there for Google to see.

Now this could be considered helpful if you were trying to rank for peripheral long tail phrases. Maybe I would want to rank for the phrase money money online with Google Adwords or make money online selling eBay products or how to make a dollar a day from Adsense sites. All of these would be considered long tail phrases that may help my ranking for my overall keyword of make money online or dollar a day.

So let’s see what will happen. It is now 3:10 pm on December 13th. Kansas basketball was just upset by Massachusetts and Georgetown and Memphis are currently in overtime. I am a sports junkie. I am going to save this post and then ping Google blog search and see if we can get indexed and rank for the phrase “do bodybuilders pick their noses.” See you as soon as I see something happen. If it occurs in a few minutes I will be back in a few minutes. If it doesn’t happen for a few hours I will come back then. Either way by the end of the night I will give you an update. Wish me luck.

I pinged Google at 3:16 PM. It is now 3:28 PM and I do not see any results of this page being indexed.

It is now 4:37 PM and I see no sign that the site has been indexed. I am guessing Vic’s site is normally crawled by Google much more often than this one is. I don’t know how long it will take Google to getting around to it but I will keep you posted.

Still nothing at 6:49. I went and put a coat of varnish on some chairs that I am building. I may go put a coats on the last two now.

It is now 9:00 PM the next night. I have still not been indexed. There is a result for the phrase now, however, it is the Technorati listing for my blog after it was pinged. The actual page from my website has not showed up. So from this I would assume that Google has not indexed the page. What this shows is that not all blogs are treated the same. Although I believe Vic Franqui has gives out excellent information without charge it is obvious that Google treats his site much different than it treats mine and maybe yours. Good luck if you try this strategy.

I forgot to check yesterday, but the site is indexed as of 12/16. It may have been there yesterday. So now I show up for the goofy search.
